My Life: Kat Alano
Name: Katherine Anne Alano
Nickname: Kat
Age: 24
Occupation: VJ/Host
Show: Fit & Fab
Finish the sentence:
I love...
"...traveling and discovering different cultures and people."
I desire...
"...to travel the whole world!"
I despise...
"...rude or arrogant people and liars."
On splurging vs. scrimping:
What do you splurge on?
"Shoes! I can't help it. I love shoes. And my phone bill, so I can call my mom in the UK."
What do you scrimp on?
"I try to be thrifty and get my money's worth with most things especially with things like eating out. I love to go to Dampa and get good deals on seafood."
On style:
How would you describe your sense of style?
"I have a very unique sense of style, which varies largely depending on my mood."
What fashion item should every woman have?
"A little black dress, a crisp white blouse, and a neat pair of jeans or some black pants or leggings. You can do them up or dress them down for different occasions."
What's your beauty regimen?
"I try to sleep well to maintain healthy skin. Plus, I wash off my make up before I go to sleep and pamper my skin with a face peel every once in a while. I also use a skin toner to clean out my pores and try to moisturize everyday."
Would you consider going through cosmetic surgery?
"At the moment, I'm more of a believer in feeling good in your own skin. I feel that fixing your problem naturally is the best option. But I am not against cosmetic surgery. I understand the desire people have to look and feel different. You never know, one day when I'm older I might be singing a different tune!"
What do you think of size 0 models?
"They look good, but I feel that sometimes it gives the wrong impression about the social norm, especially to young girls, who start to believe that they are not beautiful if they do not look like that. Women need to understand everyone's body type is different and that as long as they are healthy and in good shape, they don't need to be a size 0 to feel good about themselves."
On relationships:
Who has it better: men or women? Why?
"Women! Women have a different view on the world and we're fantastic multi-taskers! Plus we give birth, which I think would be an unmatchable experience."
What's the one thing in guys that is a non-negotiable for you?
"Honesty. Everything has to be on the table for a relationship to really work."
What's your take on self-love?
"I believe in learning to appreciate yourself for who you are and the things you are capable of without arrogance and accepting yourself despite your flaws. You also have to allow yourself to learn from mistakes and grow from them without beating yourself up about it."
Who's your celebrity crush?
"Angelina Jolie!"
What's the most expensive gift you ever gave?
"I think it was an iPod stereo."
On leisure:
What's your greatest adventure so far?
"Life! Haha. But seriously, venturing to the Philippines on my own. My life since then has been a really huge adventure."
What's your favorite travel destination?
"I fell in love with the Cayman Islands. It's so gorgeous there."
What's your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?
"Stay in, cook dinner and watch movies. Or go out dancing!"
What is something that you would love to master?
"Cooking, I would love to be an amazing cook."
What's your favorite part of your house and why?
"My room because it's where I can let loose at the end of the day."
On Her career:
What's a typical work day for you?
"For most things, I go to work, get make up and hair done, read over a script, sometimes hosting gigs, have meetings with directors and then either host on stage or on camera."
On food:
Is there anything you won't eat?
"I'm pretty adventurous with my food, but I will not eat liver. I really don't like the taste!"
What's the craziest thing/food you've eaten?
"Chicken feet. I'm crazy about them!"
What's the best food you've tasted in your life?
"So difficult. I've had so much nice food, although once I had some spectacular oysters in San Francisco."
