Flirting When You're Taken: Is It Okay?
Is flirting with other men fine even when you're in a committed relationship?
Compiled by Rica de Ramos
“No. Flirting while in a relationship is [undoubtedly] exciting, but it might lead to bigger problems especially if you’re really serious with your other half.”
- Kimmi, 20, Writer
“No. It's better to stay away from any kind of temptation to avoid conflicts with your partner. Remember that there's a fine line between being friendly and flirty.”
-Kabbie, 25, Makeup Artist
"Nope. Why the hell did you get into a relationship for anyway?"
- Cielo, 33, Customer Relations Manager
“Harmless flirting with other guys, even if you are in a relationship, is perfectly okay. It helps you feel good about yourself and increases self-esteem. And we all know a healthy self esteem lessens those why-were-you-looking-at-her fights.”
- Berenice, 26, Software Developer
“Nope, simply because I'm not brought up to hurt someone else. Besides, I believe in [the] saying what comes around goes around, and I don’t want to hurt anybody's feelings. I'll let nature take its course. If the person is meant for me, then the relationship is meant to be no matter what.”
- Apple, 33, Senior Specialist
“It’s perfectly all right. Looking and talking are entirely different from touching. If you know the difference, then it's fine.”
- Sheila, 23, Pastry Chef
“To some extent, [it's] allowed, but you should hold it in check. May nagsabi sa akin na natural daw akong flirt. Kahit babae fini-flirt ko.”

“Flirting with other guys is okay even if you're in a relationship as long as it's harmless. Just the same way that it's okay to have crushes. As long as it [stops] there. Anything beyond harmless flirting would be wrong. Giving your number would be okay (but giving a fake number would be better), but entertaining the call would be going beyond the boundary.”
