What Will Make You Happier?
We asked which of the following choices will make these women happier:
A. More money
B. An awesome love life
C. A successful career
D. Health
Read up on their answers here.
Compiled by Rica de Ramos
“Definitely C. The cerebral explanation would be that money falls under "security and stability" (2nd level), love life falls under "love and belongingness" (3rd level), and health falls under "physiological needs" (1st level) in Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. The only option that represents a higher level is C, which falls under "self-esteem" (4th level). So having a successful career means I'm beyond those other needs and have reached the point closest to self-actualization, which essentially is happiness and fulfillment."
- Olive, 25, Graduate Student
“A successful career! All else will follow after that. I'll have more money and the boys will follow."
- Clysly, 28, Call Center Agent
“A successful career! This is something you work hard for to achieve. There’s nothing more gratifying than being happy with what you are doing and succeeding in the path you have chosen to take. A successful career will also earn you good money, money that you’ve worked hard for. You will get to take care of your health with the funds that you have! What do you do with love when you have nothing to eat?"
- Honey, 29, Events Organizer/Musician
“I would have to say an awesome love life. I’ve thankfully experienced having money, a great career, and I'm lucky enough to be healthy as a horse. So what’s next to conquer? My love life."
-Abbeygale, 36, Senior Payment Manager
“Health cos I can't acquire more money, an awesome love life, and a successful career if my health is in the dumps."
-Owee, 25, Photographer
“Letter C. Having a successful career will definitely trigger other good things for you. Being able to enjoy work and earn good money at the same time is probably one of the most fulfilling things in the world. From there, everything will follow."
-Jasmine, 30, Events Coordinator
“More money. Kasi di naman ako mabubuhay ng love."
-Karen, 27, Graphic Artist

“I choose a successful career because that's what I'm really concerned about now. And I'm at that point where I'm really deciding on what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. I think it's really important to love what you are doing, and to be successful at it. So that's what would make me happiest. It would give me my sense of purpose."
